Join us for the first Wellbeing Workshop of 2018! Get in touch with yourself and your surroundings to help ground you for the year ahead. This explorative workshop provides participants with an opportunity to connect with themselves and nature.
When: Sunday 25 February 2-5pm
Where: CERES Environment Park (meet at the top entrance of CERES – between the Nursery and Merri Table Cafe) Cnr Roberts & Stewart Sts, Brunswick East, VIC
The modern world is on over drive. Humans live as though we are separate from the rest of nature, constantly searching for ways to overcome the limits placed before us and within us. When we stop and allow ourselves to be still we are often uncomfortable with the feelings that arise – grief, anger, despair. Yet these very feelings have the capacity to connect us to each other and the whole Earth community. Come and experience the gentle unravelling of Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects’, hold and be held by like-hearted community and by the Earth itself.
This 3 hour workshop will include a Truth Mandala ritual to help us connect with the feelings that are alive for us, and processes to creatively imagine a more compassionate human presence on the Earth.
This Activist Wellbeing Workshop is organised by Plan To Thrive, and will be facilitated by Kiri Bear.
Kiri is an artist, poet and facilitator, and has worked in the community sector for over 15 years to prevent violence against women. Over that time she has also travelled a spiritual path that has taken her through Deep Ecology, Buddhism and Nature Connection not to mention the standard human experiences of grief, despair and numbing.
Kiri is particularly keen on exploring how humans can see themselves as part of nature within urban environments. In 2007 she completed a Master’s thesis in religion and theology focusing on eco-spirituality. Her work connects people to themselves, each other and to the more-than-human world.
