Elections can be physically, mentally and emotionally demanding for campaigners. After the election you might find you ‘hit the wall’ and feel incredibly depleted. You may also feel compelled to keep going, to throw yourself into whatever comes next.

Plan to Thrive is hosting a gentle and relaxing afternoon for Melbourne based campaigners to pause and heal from the intensity of the election campaign.

The plan for the afternoon:

  • 1:30-3:00: Opening, Yoga and Meditation
  • 3:00: Afternoon tea, resting, chatting, going for a walk to the park (weather permitting)
  • 3:30-5:00: Rest and Play, Next steps in election recovery

The afternoon is hosted by Holly Hammond from Plan to Win and Plan to Thrive, with sessions from Venesha Wray and Steph Gesling. Please note that this is not a replacement for campaign debriefs or one-to-one support – ask us if you have questions about those.

Yoga and Meditation with Venesha Wray: The senses and the mind are constantly drawn outwards, and we lose sight of our inner wisdom and calm. This session will reconnect you with body and breath, cultivating a sense of self-integration. No prior experience is needed.

Rest and Play with Steph Gesling: The body is supremely wired to heal itself, to process and to integrate our many life experiences. Steph will lead us through a series of simple activities using story, stillness and movement to practice being in the body, noticing what you enjoy and allowing your inner wisdom to guide the way. No prior experience is needed. Find out more at restandplay.co

Bring along…

… a yoga mat and blanket (we will have some spares if you can’t) and your own water bottle. Bring some extra cash to pay the balance of your fee. Dress in comfy clothes with shoes that are easy to slip on and off. The venue will be heated but feel free to bring anything to help you get cosy.

Fees

Sliding scale: $15-$30. Book your spot by paying $15 now and pay the balance on the day – we suggest an additional $5 to $15 depending on your means, no more to pay for unwaged activists.

Please note that if you end up being unable to attend please let us know – we are unable to provide a refund but will send you a post-election electronic care package with discounts for practitioners to the same value. Gift vouchers are available if you would like to acknowledge the work of a campaigner in your life. Group bookings for organisations are also possible, just get in touch.
